Maldon District Council enabling future growth of events in District Parks

Published on Friday, 7th June 2019

As part of the Council’s efforts to support growth in community and commercial events for residents and visitors.

The Council is applying for new licences which will cover Hythe Quay, Promenade and Riverside Park.

The new licences will standardise the way events can take place in both parks and Hythe Quay, removing the reliance on multiple ‘Temporary Event Notices’ (TENs).

The licences will cover events between the hours of 09:00 to 24:00 that involve the sale of alcohol, regulated entertainment including music and late-night refreshment.

The current system of TENs means that multiple licences are being used during a single event which can create an additional burden to organisers.

The new licences may only be used occasionally, particularly in Riverside Park which only sees a very small number of events annually. Additionally, the location, frequency, timings, scale of events and the impact on residents will always be considered. It is anticipated very few events would need to use the full extent of the permitted times.

It is hoped that the new licences will support existing and new events for the benefit of local people.
