Delivery of Tourist and Visitor Information is Changing

Published on Thursday, 22nd August 2019

We are pleased to announce that Maldon Town Council has confirmed that they will be opening a Visitor Information Centre at the Town Council Offices, Market Hill, Maldon from Monday 30th September.

The Maldon Visitor Information Centre as it will be known, will be open Monday – Friday 10.30am – 3.30pm and will enable visitors to get local and tourist information, buy local event tickets and obtain local bus and train travel information. It will also act as a collection point for green and pink recycling sacks.

The Town Council’s Visitor Information Centre will work closely with the District Council’s specialists to support our fantastic museums, attractions, events, high streets, cafes, restaurants, accommodation and more, which makes the Maldon District such a great place to visit.

The Council will continue to support and work with the visitor and tourism businesses, utilising more modern tools such as the very successful VisitMaldonDistrict.co.uk website and our social media platforms.

This change in the way in which Visitor Information is delivered, is as a result of the decision made in February, to close the District Council operated Tourist Information Centres (TICs), located in Burnham and Maldon. The Burnham-on-Crouch centre closed in March and the Maldon TIC will close on the 28th September 2019.

We are also currently working with Burnham-on-Crouch Town Council who have expressed an interest in providing a similar service.
