#Warm Maldon 2019 Launches
Published on Tuesday, 19th November 2019
Most of us are lucky enough to have a warm coat to wear when the weather gets colder and to be able to turn the heating up. However, this isn’t the case for many families in the District.
Maldon CVS, Maldon District Council, United In Kind, Maldon Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service are working together on the programme. Some key activities that will be happening over the next few months include:
- Maldon Soup events which give grants to community projects that support residents
- #WarmMaldon coat rails will be dotted around the District for anyone to donate warm coats and for those families who need them to take them for free
(Maldon Library, United Reformed Church (Burnham-On-Crouch) and Watership Downs Nursery)
- Fuel vouchers will be issued to those families and individuals who are identified as being in need and eligible for help to ensure that they can heat their home over the cold periods
In addition, Maldon District Council is keen to know of any other groups who are doing something to help those vulnerable residents who may be at risk of being cold this winter. If you know of any please use #WarmMaldon and mention or tweet us (Facebook: Maldon District Council, Twitter: @MaldonDC).
Richard Holmes, Director of Service Delivery said “Cold weather can seriously harm our health which is why it is so important that these initiatives are taking place. If you start to feel unwell during the winter, even if it is a cough or a cold, don’t wait until it gets more serious. Seek advice from your pharmacist.”
