Published on Tuesday, 25th February 2020
Maldon District Council is seeking the views of residents and businesses on the Council’s proposed Air Quality Action Plan.
This plan would introduce a Clean Air Zone around Market Hill and the High Street to address issues of poor air quality in the area.
The survey will be available from 2 March 2020 to 13 April 2020 and can be viewed and completed online at www.maldon.gov.uk/cleanair. Businesses in the High Street will be contacted directly for their views.
To find out more, a drop-in session will also take place at Maldon Town Hall on 10 March (7.30am – 5.00pm).
Councillor Adrian Fluker, Leader of Maldon District Council, said; “The proposed Clean Air Zone is going to make the area around Maldon High Street one of the most environmentally friendly in Essex. Maldon has a vibrant day and night time economy and is fast becoming one of the top ‘must visit’ traditional shopping experiences in the region. The proposed clean air zone will make the area safer and cleaner for shoppers and visitors alike and I hope that as a many people as possible respond to the public consultation”.
The proposed Clean Air Zone forms part of a plan of 27 actions, which aims to work with residents, businesses, schools and the Council’s employees to improve air quality in the Air Quality Management Area in the shortest possible time, for example by producing policy, addressing emissions and running local engagement projects.
