Support for Local Businesses and Individuals
Published on Monday, 23rd March 2020

The Government has announced a range of measures to help businesses through this challenging time. The package of support is intended to help individuals and businesses to ensure the impact of the Covid-19 disease is minimised.
Getting help to our residents and business is a high priority to us and we will make sure that more information is provided as soon as we receive it. In the meantime, here is a summary of the current position.
Individuals
The Government has pledged additional funding of £500 million (nationwide) for council tax relief through existing local Council Tax Support Schemes.
They have also pledged additional support for those claiming help with rent, either directly from the Council through Housing Benefit or through Universal Credit.
We are currently awaiting more guidance on these from the Government and from our software providers. More information will be made available on our website and via social media as soon as possible.
If you wish to register an interest in making a claim, please continue to look at our website where details on how to do this will be made available in the coming days.
Businesses
Details of the support currently being made available can be found on our website and via Government support for businesses
Businesses do not need to apply for business rates relief as they are based on the receipt of business rates reliefs and rateable values. We will process your business rates relief changes as soon as we can and issue your revised bills.
If you believe you will be eligible for a grant, please continue to look at our website and social media for further updates. Details on how we will be dealing with the grants and how you can make sure that we have the correct contact information, including the bank details where the money needs to be paid, will be made available as soon as possible.
