Maldon District Council Receives Commended Award
Published on Thursday, 23rd July 2020
Maldon District Council has received a ‘Commended’ Award in the prestigious 2020 MJ Achievement Awards.
The Council’s entry for the ‘Workforce Transformation’ category focused on its ambitious transformation project which was the most extensive change at Maldon District Council since the re-organisation of local government in 1974. The transformation was key to meeting the Council’s budget gap, driving efficiency and providing the best possible service to communities.
The transformation model focussed on a new way to deliver Council services through investment in information technology, becoming more customer focussed, and maximising the Council’s commercial opportunities. The project began in the summer of 2018 and was completed in October 2019.
Paul Dodson, Director of Strategy, Performance and Governance, said; “We are delighted to receive this recognition. During the transformation we completely reorganised the way in which our services are delivered with re-modelled directorates and a new committee structure based on ensuring the customer is at the heart of everything we do.
“We left behind the traditional ways of working, and instead created a multi skilled flexible and committed workforce who work to deliver the outcomes in our Corporate Plan and our thematic strategies of Community, Place and Prosperity.”
Cllr Adrian Fluker, Leader of Maldon District Council, said; “I am immensely proud that we have received this Commended Award in the prestigious MJ local government awards. I have always said that the Council punches way above its weight and that the staff always deliver truly excellent services for our residents.
“The transformation of the whole Council was extremely challenging in such a short timescale, but we completed it on time.
“To have been recognised amongst our peers for our ‘Workforce Transformation’ is truly outstanding.”
