Elections Staff Required

Would you like to be involved in the democratic work of the District and earn some cash at the same time? If so, now is your chance, as Maldon District Council is looking for people to work at the elections on Thursday 6 May 2021.

The Elections Team are making plans to protect Polling Station Staff, Count Staff and Voters and you will be operating in a Covid secure environment with the appropriate PPE available.  

Staff must consent to working in excess of the normal working hours provided for by the working time directive and previous experience is not essential for any of the roles, as full training will be provided. All payments are gross and inclusive of travel.

We are seeking people to fill the following roles;

Polling Stations - 6am – close – Thursday 6 May 2021:
Presiding Officers - £230
Poll Clerks -  £140
Training - £50

Verification / Count Staff – will be needed for all three days
Thursday 6 May –  10pm until finish
Verification of all boxes after close of Poll (at 10pm)
£20.00 per hour

Friday 7 May – 10am – 5pm
Counting for Essex County Council election, followed from District by-elections/Parish Council elections
£15.00 per hour

Saturday 8 May – 9am – 12noon
Counting for Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner
£15.00 per hour

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to work at a polling station and 16 to work at the count, and you must be entitled to work in the UK (in accordance with the provisions of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996). 

Successful applicants will need to provide supporting information which confirms entitlement to work in the UK before taking up any appointment and you cannot work on behalf of a candidate or political party at these elections or be related to a candidate.
