The sad passing of His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh has brought about a time that will be marked in history. The Duke served this country with duty and with dedication, taking his place by the side of our longest ruling monarch.

The Chairman of the Council Councillor Mark Heard, said; “I would like to place on record, the gratitude of the people of the Maldon District for the many years of service given by His Royal, Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh.  He supported Her Majesty the Queen and carried out his duties with both dignity and a sense of humour.

"We have lowered our Union Flag to half mast and a letter of condolence has been sent from the Chairman of the Council to the Queen’s personal secretary, expressing sympathies on behalf of this Council.”
