A FREE family fun day featuring TV characters Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol’s Chase is set to breathe life into the high street areas of Maldon and Burnham-on-Crouch.

The events will take place on Saturday 26th March from 10am – 3pm.

Peppa Pig will be spending the day meeting families at Burnham Baptist Church, while Chase can be found at The Black Rabbit Pub Car Park in Maldon. The stars will be joined by a host of entertainers and activities located at several different areas in each high street providing a FREE family friendly day out.

‘Keep It Local - A Community Together’ has been put together to encourage residents to visit their local towns and spend time exploring, while taking part in the day’s events which include: -

  • Live music & family entertainment including balloon modellers
  • Craft tents - make a windmill and plant a seed in the potting shed
  • Peppa Pig and Chase appearances will take place at intervals during the day

Visitors can also contribute to the community murals with positive messages about their town, which will be on display after the event at the town’s libraries. Free tote bags for adults and children’s drawstring bags will be given away on the day to visitors to take home and re use when shopping local.

Maldon Carnival are also offering an Easter Trail and families can also hunt for the Easter bunnies in Burnham on Crouch high street.  Trail sheets will be available from 26th March in each town’s libraries.

Maldon District Council has engaged Essex marketing agency, Key Lime to deliver the events, which are being funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The Welcome Back Fund was established to provide councils across England a share of £56 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to support the safe return to high streets and help build back better from the pandemic. This funding builds on the £50 million Reopening High Street Safely Fund (RHSSF) allocated to councils in 2020 and forms part of the wider support government is providing to communities and businesses.
