Seasonal Message by Councillor Bob Boyce MBE, Chairman of Maldon District Council
Published on Thursday, 22nd December 2022
Seasonal message from the Chairman of Maldon District Council.
It has been an honour and a privilege to once again serve as Chairman of Maldon District Council.
I would like to thank all our partner organisations, volunteers, fellow Councillors at District, Town, Parish, and Village Councils and particularly the staff of the District Council for their commitment and dedication during what has been another challenging year.
We are learning to live with Covid-19 as this has not gone away, but the development of the vaccine and the very high take up of this in this District, is something that gives hope.
I appreciate that it continues to be a very difficult time for many residents and businesses, with the current cost of living crisis, but I can only hope that as we move into 2023 things will gradually show signs of improvement.
What has never ceased to amaze me, is the support and resilience that the whole community has shown in supporting each other, and no more so than the kindness which has been given to our Ukrainian guests.
I would also like to pay tribute to all those who work over the festive season to keep us safe and well and I extend my thanks and gratitude to them all.
Christmas is a time for reconciliation worldwide, and we should all work with tolerance and harmony to ensure that we can settle our differences and start 2023 with a fresh determination, but also spare a thought for those less fortunate than ourselves.
And finally, I would like to take this opportunity to send my warmest wishes to everyone for the festive season.
