Maldon District Council’s Chief Executive, Doug Wilkinson, and Chairman, Cllr Kevin Lagan, paid a special visit to the Parks Team Depot in Promenade Park to recognise the hard work and dedication of the team who help keep the District’s green spaces looking their best all year round.

As part of this year’s Love Parks Week celebrations, Maldon District Council’s Chief Executive, Doug Wilkinson, and Chairman, Cllr Kevin Lagan, paid a special visit to the Parks Team Depot in Promenade Park to recognise the hard work and dedication of the team who help keep the District’s green spaces looking their best all year round.

During the visit, Doug and Cllr Lagan met with officers from the team, explored the depot facilities, and got a close-up look at the specialist vehicles and equipment used to maintain the District’s parks and open spaces. The visit was an opportunity to share ideas, hear directly from the team, and show appreciation for their vital work.

Speaking after the visit, Doug Wilkinson, Chief Executive of Maldon District Council said: “Our parks are a source of pride for the district and a lifeline for so many residents and visitors. It was fantastic to meet the team behind the scenes and see first-hand the effort, dedication and professionalism that goes into keeping our green spaces looking so amazing, safe, clean, and welcoming.”

Cllr Kevin Lagan, Chairman of Maldon District Council, added: “As someone who grew up enjoying these parks, I know how important they are to our community. They’re places for families, friends, and nature to thrive. I’m incredibly proud of the work our teams do, and I encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the wonderful parks and open spaces we have across the District.”

Maldon District Council manages a wide range of parks and open spaces, including Maldon’s Promenade Park, Riverside Park in Burnham-on-Crouch, and many local play areas and open spaces. Love Parks Week is a national campaign that celebrates the value of parks and the people who care for them.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to explore the District’s parks and share their favourite moments with the Council on social media using #LoveParksWeek.
