The much-anticipated Promenade Park Management Plan has officially been signed off by the Council, heralding the beginning of a new era for one of our community’s most cherished green spaces.

This strategic document, shaped by months of collaboration, public consultation, and expert insight, will guide the stewardship, preservation, and enhancement of Promenade Park for years to come.
At the heart of the Management Plan lies a clear vision: to preserve and nurture Promenade Park as a welcoming, inclusive, and sustainable space that delights and serves the diverse community. The Park is to be a place for relaxation, recreation, natural beauty, and cultural events, all underpinned by sound environmental stewardship.
The plan outlines a framework for balanced development and careful management, ensuring that every decision—whether about upgrading amenities or introducing new activities—supports the Park’s long-term health and vibrancy. The management plan supports the thoughtful scheduling and hosting of events, ensuring they are compatible with the Park’s environment and community atmosphere.
The plan details a phased approach to improvements across Promenade Park with a number of projects being planned over the next two years, which have been brought forward as a direct result of resident and visitor feedback.
These projects include improvements to our Secret Garden play area and the Kiosks serving food, together with new facilities with an Outdoor Gym, covered seating area, a nature trail, biodiversity areas, litter bins and free public Wi-fi.
We want to continue to hear from our residents and visitors on the Promenade Park and how we are doing and if there is anything more we could do, and are asking residents and visitors to submit their feedback via a survey which will run from 14 August to 24 September. A link to the survey is here
During the six weeks there will be signs across the Promenade Park with links to the Survey, and we will have staff in the park collecting feedback from Park users.
Cllr Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council, said; “The adoption of the Management Plan is not an endpoint but a foundation for action. It is both a celebration of what has been achieved and a call to action for what comes next.
“The plan is more than a document; it is a shared vision and a promise—a promise that Promenade Park will be preserved, nurtured, and made better for everyone, today and in the years ahead.
“A clear timeline has been established for the roll-out of key improvements, with regular progress reports to be shared publicly, but as we progress with the implementation, the community’s continued involvement will be vital. Together, we can ensure that Promenade Park remains the green heart of our town, offering beauty, inspiration, activity, fun and enjoyment for generations to come.”
