Description

We’re inviting you to apply for this newly formed Active Living and Leisure Officer post at Maldon District Council. This is a partnership role that sits within our Health Integration and Community Wellbeing team which works closely alongside the Council’s healthcare, public health, sports, community and voluntary partners.

The post holder will work in collaboration with our leisure operator to maximise the potential for residents to access and benefit from our leisure services. This is an exciting time of modernisation for our leisure facilities in Maldon. Our leisure centres are currently undergoing a range of improvements including a new clip and climb and health suite and an updated gym.

The leisure operator has also recently commenced a community programme that aligns with the district’s health priorities. The post holder will help to strengthen and embed this programme with our One Maldon District health and community partners, as part of wider system transformation including the emergence of new health neighbourhoods.

If you enjoy working with people, shaping ideas into action, and making a positive difference through partnership and leadership, this could be a rewarding next step in your career.

As the Active Living and Leisure Officer, you’ll:

  • Provide strategic leadership and professional expertise for the Council’s leisure contract, acting as the lead contact for political members, council officers, and external partners.

  • Drive continuous improvement within our facilities, ensuring services are modern, efficient, and meeting the needs of our residents.
  • Strengthen community health by working closely with the NHS, public health, and voluntary partners to position leisure as a key means of reducing health inequalities.
  • Foster strong partnerships and use behaviour-change approaches to promote active lifestyles and broaden engagement across our diverse communities.
  • Be a role model for the service, promoting a culture of authenticity, integrity, and collaboration while supporting the wellbeing of the team and residents alike.
