Notice of Intention to Commence

This notice marks the start of the formal Local Plan preparation process. 

Maldon District Council hereby gives notice of its intention to commence preparation of a new Maldon District Local Plan. 

This provides communities and other stakeholders with advance notice of plan‑making so they understand when and how they can get involved in preparing the Local Plan. 

This notice is published in accordance with Regulation 19 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2026, which marks the start of the formal Local Plan preparation process.

To meet data requirements the Local Plan data is available as a CSV file. The data within this file is being provided to the Government under the Open Government Licence. 

Local Plan Timetable 

A Local Plan Timetable has been prepared and sets out the key stages and timescales for preparing the Maldon District Local Plan. 

The Local Plan Timetable can be viewed here and at Maldon District Council Offices, Princes Road, Maldon CM9 5DL: opening hours are Monday to Friday 10:00am to 4:00pm. 

Maldon District Council expects to formally begin the preparation of the Local Plan for Maldon District under the new plan-making system after it has passed through its self-assessment (Gateway 1) in March 2027.
