Local Highway Panel
The Council has embraced the concept of highways localism, being actively promoted by Essex County Council and has set up a Local Highway Panel. The arrangements for this Panel have recently been refreshed and responsibility for an enlarged budget given to it.
The Panel, operating independently from the County and District Council has influence over elements of the highways budget for the Maldon District and reaches conclusions based on local knowledge and a detailed understanding of local priorities and requirements. These are communicated to the County Council for consideration and implementation.
The Panel consists of six district councillors and the three County Councillors for the Maldon District with a terms of reference.
Meetings of the Panel are not held in public.
