Council Tax valuation bands
The valuation band that your property is placed in is used to work out how much Council Tax you pay.
The valuation band for your property is on your bill, or you can check the band for your property or any property using a postcode.
We do not decide property bands, they are decided by the Valuation Office Agency. The band is based on the value on 1 April 1991, not the current value.
The latest bandings and charges can be found in our explanatory notes.
You may be able to appeal against your property's valuation band. For more information, please visit GOV.UK - Council Tax appeals.
You can make an appeal without instructing an agent or other organisation who may charge you a commission or fee.
