Where any requirement of the abatement notice is ignored we may take one or more of the following lines of action:-
a) Prosecution of the responsible person for contravention or non-compliance with any requirement of the notice. Fines currently available to the courts are up to £5,000 for domestic properties and up to £20,000 for industrial, trade or business premises
b) Proceedings in the High Court to secure the abatement, prohibition or restriction of the statutory nuisance. This is likely to be in the form of an injunction
c) The carrying out of whatever works or action is necessary to abate the statutory nuisance and recovering reasonable costs from them. This can include seizure and potential forfeiture of equipment
