One Maldon District TPI Grant
The One Maldon District TPI Grant has been developed by One Maldon District in collaboration with the Centre for Thriving Places.
The overriding funding objective of this grant framework is to mobilise projects that will help strengthen what is currently available in Maldon District for the following key outcome areas:
• Access to Services (including transport)
• Community and Community Cohesion
• Community Safety
• Mental Health
• Green Spaces
In August 2024, grants from a minimum of £2,500 to a maximum £15,000 were made available for community partners. In September, expressions of interest were reviewed and shortlisted by a panel.
Update – October 2024
We are excited to have commenced work with our community partners for the first tranche of our One Maldon District Thriving Places work.
Five projects have been shortlisted. These are as follows:
Project |
Delivery Partner |
Description |
BoxSmart On The Ropes and Girls Inspired courses |
Active Essex Foundation |
Active Essex Foundation will be delivering intensive support courses in Southminster, Heybridge and Burnham on Crouch to get young people into boxing and other physical activities. The programmes will be for young people facing inactivity and inequalities and those at risk of exploitation or involved in antisocial behaviour. |
Mental Health Counselling and Toolkit Training for secondary school children |
Mid and North Essex Mind |
Collaborating with Plume and Ormiston Academy, Mid and North Essex Mind will provide mental health counselling and support for students. The project will also offer ‘Mental Health Toolkit Training’ for parents and teachers to support children and young people facing mental health challenges.
The wider community can also access the ‘Mental Health Toolkit Training’ sessions |
Walking Football |
Beacon Hill Rovers FC |
Beacon Hill Rovers FC will be growing its current small-scale provision of sporting activities for the older generation. Target groups include women and 65–75-year-old men. Participants will be invited to take part in green space maintenance activities. A social space will be created to create opportunities for discussing and sharing aspects of older life including emotions and mental health. |
Men’s Health Project |
Maldon Library and satellite libraries across the district |
Maldon Library will be hosting an event in November to coincide with Men’s Month. This will lead into rollout of a bi-weekly support group that will provide information and signposting to men in local communities for mental health, suicide, prostate cancer, family custody and other male focus issues. |
Maldon Pioneers in the Dengie |
Maldon Pioneers
|
Maldon Pioneers will be creating a new group for people living with learning disabilities in the Dengie. The group will provide opportunities for socialising and participation in activities to enhance emotional and physical wellbeing. Learning and support will be given to the group, to maximise the potential for it to be able to grow and sustain itself in the long-term. |
These projects primarily focus on the mental health outcome that One Maldon partners have identified as a priority, and its interconnections with community cohesion, community safety and green spaces. Individually, the projects aim to support specific vulnerable groups in our communities. Collectively, they are intergenerational in their approach and so they offer lots of potential for joint working and shared learning.
The delivery timeframe for these projects is October 2024 to March 2025.
During project delivery, the project leads will attend a series of workshops that are being facilitated by the Centre for Thriving Places. The aim of these workshops is to create a One Maldon Thriving Places ‘Community of Practice’. This will enable project leads to coproduce the following:
- Shared goals and objectives
- Evaluation templates and processes
- Recommendations – to be shared with One Maldon partners to inform future tranches of Thriving Places work
We will share a further update on the work of the Thriving Places ‘Community of Practice’ in January 2025. This will be circulated to One Maldon partners via Maldon District Livewell, our Integrated Neighbourhoods and Maldon CVS communication channels.
