Domestic abuse - thinking of leaving

Clicking the EXIT button on the right will allow you to leave this page quickly and return to Google and the BBC Weather pages, although your browser may show this page in your history.

However you have kept yourself safe up until now, there may come a time where the safest option for you is to leave your home. Please make sure you have considered your options very carefully and have sought advice if possible to do so.
The following links may help you to decide your safest option.  Although the pages are tailored to women, they are still helpful if you identify as male or non-binary:

If you would like to speak to a member of Maldon District Council’s Housing Team about your options please contact us including a safe contact number where we can reach you, and the best time we can contact you safely.

If you are homeless or need to leave your home due to domestic abuse we may consider placing you in a refuge. This will always be considered on a case by case basis and with your agreement. Refuge is a temporary solution allowing you to stay in a safe environment whilst you are supported to recover and explore your longer term housing options. Any homeless duty will remain with the local authority which you chose to approach, and this will still be the case even if you are moved away temporarily. Please rest assured that you will be able to move back to your home district if you want to and it is safe for you to do so.
