Maldon District Council has become amongst a growing number of employers who recognise the important contribution that those with a range of disabilities contribute to an organisation.

Disability Confident is a Government scheme that aims to develop more disability-inclusive workplaces. The purpose of this is to remove barriers and recognise the potential talent of many individuals with disabilities.

Cllr Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council, said; “I am proud to state that we are a disability confident employer, who is willing to do more for our existing and prospective disabled employees. By being inclusive we will ensure that everyone is dealt with fairly.

“As a disability confident employer, we are committed to increasing our understanding and to  challenge attitudes towards disability. We will remove barriers, and provide the necessary opportunities to recruit, retain and develop disabled people and help them to realise their potential”.
