Maldon District Council Leader welcomes streetlights upgrade
Published on Tuesday, 21st November 2023
Cllr Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council has welcomed the news last week that Essex County Council Highways will be upgrading streetlights across the Maldon District.
Cllr Siddall said; “I am delighted that Essex County Council Highways will be working to replace the older style streetlights with more energy efficient LED ones.
“Having more energy efficient LED streetlights will save around 75% of energy compared to the previous lights, and they should last up to 20 years.
“This will not only be more cost effective but will also lower carbon emissions - helping to reducing the District’s carbon footprint.”
The streetlights will be replaced as part of Essex County Council’s ongoing programme of with replacement lights being fitted from January 2024.
