New era for Maldon District Council as Chief Executive takes up post

A new Chief Executive has joined Maldon District Council.

Cllr Richard Siddall and Doug WilkinsonDoug Wilkinson was appointed as the Council’s new Chief Executive (Head of Paid Service) in August following a rigorous selection process. He took up his post on 14th October 2024 and joins the Council from the London Borough of Enfield, where he was previously the Director of Environment and Operational Services. 

The Leader of Maldon District Council, Councillor Richard Siddall, said “We are delighted to welcome Doug on board as our new Chief Executive. His role is pivotal in the organisation and will help us to deliver real outcomes for our District. I know that by using his extensive skills, knowledge and experience, Doug will build on the recent work the Council has done and will help us to continue to drive forward change and to develop our projects and commitments.” 

New Chief Executive, Doug Wilkinson, said, “Councils make a real difference in residents’ lives on a daily basis and I’m passionate about delivering quality services in the public sector. I am therefore excited to start working with the dedicated Officers, Councillors and community partners in the Maldon District and achieving great things together.  

“Of course, collaboration is going to be key in order to ensure the future success of the district and to meet the needs and aspirations of everyone who lives, works and visits here. I will therefore be meeting with partner organisations as well as with staff and Councillors to continue the excellent work that has already been established.

“Together we will ensure the future success of our unique and beautiful district.”
