The statement detailed how Members from across all political groups within the Council have once again worked together with officers to achieve a balanced budget for the coming 2025/26 year.
Councillor Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council, said; “Despite the many financial challenges the council faces, I am extremely pleased that the Council has still been able to invest in projects across the district to enhance community facilities and accessibility, including improving the BMX track, adding new accessible play sites, and installing a new pontoon in Burnham-on-Crouch.
“Our partnerships such as One Maldon District Partnership has enabled us to make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of our community with the campaigns that have been undertaken this past year, and our collaboration with Essex Police with support from the PFCC has meant we have been able to undertake a number of safety initiatives across our community.
“I am pleased that the Chancellor’s autumn budget confirmed another one-year allocation of UKSPF funding and I look forward to seeing the projects across the district that we will be supporting with this funding. We are matching this fund, so we can really make a difference in the district.
“Through this hard work, the Council’s financial position is significantly improved on the situation reported last year and will allow the Council to continue to deliver its revised Corporate Plan priorities as detailed in ‘Where Quality of Life Matters’ Or watch the video.
“Although there are continued financial pressures and the challenges that lie ahead as part of Devolution and the Local Government Reorganisation, I remain positive that the Council can continue to deliver the best possible outcomes for the District.”
