Maldon District Council welcomes Government 'Minded to' decision.
Maldon District Council has welcomed today's announcement by Government for a new configuration of local councils across the Greater Essex area; and are particularly pleased the minister has listened and adopted our preferred model. This puts local place and local people at the centre of local government, joining us with Chelmsford and Brentwood.
Maldon District Council will now step up our collaborative work with all partners across Greater Essex to deliver the change to best serve the interests of our local communities and residents. This is to ensure the process happens as smoothly as possible, with minimal disruption to the public.
We understand there will be lots of questions at this time, and we will be working hard to answer them and to keep residents informed over the coming weeks and months as a plan is developed and implemented.
Rest assured that, for now, we will continue to provide excellent local services for our residents and communities, right up until the point at which Maldon District Council no longer exists on 1 April 2028; and we will work hard to maximise the opportunities re-organisation presents to provide better, more joined up local services to the public in the future.
Councillor Richard Siddall, Leader, Maldon District Council, said; “I welcome today's announcement and I am pleased that Government has listened and adopted our preferred model keeping local government local. We will now step up our collaborative work with all partners across Greater Essex, to deliver the change so that it best serves the interests of our local communities and residents of Maldon District. We need to ensure that the change happens with minimal disruption and that the Maldon District benefits from the reorganisation.”
