The latest league table showcasing recycling rates for all 321 local authorities across England in 2045/25 has just been released by letsrecycle.com. The published results highlight the nation’s progress towards a greener future and shine a spotlight on local success stories.

Maldon District Council has emerged as the top performer in Essex with a recycling rate of 57.8%, securing its status among the top 6% of councils nationally for recycling rates. This remarkable achievement reflects the council’s strong commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Doug Wilkinson, Chief Executive of Maldon District Council, said, “I am delighted to see that our recycling rates show us as the top performers in Essex and one of the top performers in the Country. We could not have done this without the tremendous efforts and support of our residents and of course our Waste and Recycling contractor Suez.”

Barry Dolphin, Contract Manager from Suez, the council’s waste and recycling contractor, added: “We are proud to be part of Maldon’s success, working in partnership with Maldon District Council and our Recycling processor Green Recycling Ltd, Maldon to deliver innovative recycling solutions and engage the community. This result demonstrates what can be achieved when everyone pulls together for the environment.”

With the continued dedication of Maldon’s residents and the council’s forward-thinking approach, the district is poised to set an example for others and help drive positive change across the country.
