Bulky waste and electrical items
Do you have a large item such as a piece of furniture or a fridge you wish to dispose of? If so we offer a chargeable Bulky Household Waste Collection Service. This service is operated by our Contractors (Suez).
Before throwing something away, please try other options such as offering it to friends, neighbours, or people near you via a service like Freegle. You don't want it - but someone else might! Freegle is an online platform that helps people give and get items for free in their community. It's easy and free to join your local group in Maldon
Items such as furniture, bikes, unwanted presents and toys can be posted online and sometimes within an hour they have been collected from your property. Making it an easy and quick way to get rid of your items and meaning less waste in your bin and saving you a trip to the local recycling centres. If the item is in working order and in good condition you could also consider donating to charity or to one of the reuse projects operating in the county.
Alternatively you could advertise good quality items in the local paper, shops, supermarket or take them to your local Recycling Centre for Household Waste. By doing this you will help us to reduce the amount of waste being sent to landfill and protect our local environment.

Corner Sofa (each section counts as 1 item E.g. 3 sections = 3 items)
Set of 4 dining chairs (counts as 1 item) 8 dining chairs = 2 items
Kitchen cabinets (1 cabinet = 1 item)
Tiles (1 small rubble bag = 1 item)
White goods (e.g. washing machine, fridge, dishwasher) PLEASE ENSURE ALL FOOD IS REMOVED FROM FRIDGES & FREEZERS PRIOR TO COLLECTION
Electrical appliances (e.g. vacuum cleaner, sewing machine)
Carpet (rolled up if possible)
Radiator (1 radiator = 1 item)
Trampoline - must be dismantled
Garden Shed up to 6ft - must be dismantled (1 shed = 3 items)

PLEASE NOTE this is a chargeable service and once a booking is made no refunds will be given. All items will need to be placed on the front boundary of your property on the agreed collection day before 7am and have unhindered level access for collection. We are not able to collect items from inside your property boundary.
ASSISTED WASTE COLLECTIONS
If you already receive an assisted waste collection for your refuse & recycling please telephone 01621 854477 to make a booking during office hours. Please do not use our online booking form.
STANDARD WASTE COLLECTIONS
Please book each item individually. E.g. if you would like to book in 2 sofas for collection you would need to select sofa twice from the picklist. If items are not listed, they will not be collected.
Please ensure that all food is removed from fridges and freezers prior to collection. We regret that white goods that contain food will not be collected.
There is a non-refundable charge if you would like us to collect your bulky waste and/or electrical items. The fee from the 1st April 2019 is:
- £30 for up to 3 items
- £60 for up to 6 items
- £90 for up to 9 items and
- £120 for up to 12 items
We can collect a maximum of 12 items. Payment can be made by debit card only and must be taken at the time of booking.
Bulky waste collections will be picked up from your property the same day of the week as your refuse/recycling but not necessarily on your next collection day due to the popularity of this service. The date of collection will be confirmed after the order and payment is made.
