Garden Waste Service update - Temporary suspension of service

Collections will resume week commencing 25 October but the service will move to fortnightly collections and will only be collected on the same day as your refuse.

As this is a chargeable service, and to ensure that customers receive the same number of collections for the service, the current subscription year will be extended to mid-May 2022.

Please note that the new annual waste collection calendar has already been printed and therefore cannot be changed to reflect the new collections above.

We apologise to all our garden waste customers for any inconvenience caused and thank you for bearing with us.

New subscribers

The collection of garden waste is not part of the standard refuse or recycling collection service. However, we are able to provide a green waste wheeled bin collection service for a small annual fee.

Please note that if your refuse and recycling collections are made by our small waste collection vehicle (ISO collections) we are unable to offer a garden waste service to these addresses due to vehicle size restrictions.

To join the service please complete our online application form.  Further information about the service and joining instructions will be sent to you. Please note that the subscription year ordinarily runs from 1 April to 31 March but due to the suspension of the garden waste service for 2 weeks in October 2021 and the fortnightly winter schedule being implemented week commencing 25 October, we are extending the subscription year to Mid May 2022.

If you join the service from 1 October you will pay a reduced pro rata fee plus the purchase price of the bin.

If you already have a Maldon District Council green wheeled bin at your property, can you please advise us of this by adding a note when you complete the online form.

Existing Customers

If you already subscribe to the scheme and would like a 2nd bin, please complete our online application form. Please advise us that this is a request for a 2nd bin by adding a note. 2nd bins need to be purchased from the Council at a cost of £26.00 and will be subject to another annual subscription charge. Due to capacity issues we may not be able to accommodate all requests for 2nd bins. If this is the case, we will notify you.
