Armed Forces Support

Maldon District Council and the Armed Forces Covenant

Maldon District Council is proud to support the Armed Forces Covenant.

The Covenant is a national commitment which recognises that those who serve, or have served, in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated fairly and should face no disadvantage as a result of their service. The Covenant brings together public bodies, businesses, charities and communities to support the Armed Forces community.

Our Commitment

Through its Armed Forces Covenant pledge, Maldon District Council is committed to supporting serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families, recognising the valuable contribution they make to our communities and promoting awareness of the assistance available to them. The Council formally renewed its pledge in February 2026 and continues to uphold the principles of the Covenant.

This work is supported by the Council's Armed Forces Covenant Delivery Group, which includes ex-serving Council colleagues alongside partner organisations. Their experience and insight help shape local priorities and ensure activities reflect the needs of the Armed Forces community.

Current Areas of Focus

The Council and its partners are working to:

  • Raise awareness of support available to the Armed Forces community.

  • Strengthen local partnerships and collaboration.

  • Promote employment, volunteering and community opportunities.

  • Recognise and celebrate the contribution of veterans, reservists, serving personnel and military families.

  • Support ongoing progress through the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
