We have now suucessfully rolled out a plastic bags and wrappings collection to all households in the District.
You can now recycle the following items in your pink sacks mixed with the rest of your recycling.
What types of plastic bags and wrapping can be recycled?
- All plastic bags - carrier bags, Salad/fruit/vegetable bags, frozen food bags, bread bags, cereal bags and flower bags
- Confectionary wrappers - chocolate, sweet, biscuit, cake, ice cream and chewing gum wrappers
- Foil lined packaging - crisp packets, snack packets and coffee bags
- Chilled food wrapping - cheese, fish and meat wrapping
- Outer layer bags and wrapping - multipack wrapping, toilet and kitchen roll wrapping and magazine and newspaper wrapping
- Pouches - detergent and cleaning pouches only
- Plastic film and sleeves - removable film lids and plastic sleeves from bottle and jars
- Bubble wrap and cling film
- Fruit and vegetable net bags
We can not accept the following:
- Pet food and food pouches
- Balloons
- Blister packs, pills and tablet packaging
- Crisp tubes
- Disposable masks and gloves
- Foam or polystyrene
- Plastic straws and cutlery
