Consultation on draft amendment to Figure 2: Viability Assessment Process
The draft amendment to the SPD was approved for public consultation by the Council’s Planning and Licensing Committee on 6 June 2019.
The consultation period will run between 18 July and 29 August 2019.

Following consultation all comments will be considered and changes made to the draft amendment where appropriate.
Once adopted, the amended SPD will become a material consideration when making decisions on planning applications.
The Maldon District Affordable Housing and Viability SPD provides more guidance about the Council's approach to affordable housing provision. The SPD provides additional information about the way approved Local Development Plan policies H1, H2 and H5 will work.
It is guidance intended to help developers, landowners, registered providers and others applying for planning permission for affordable housing.
The SPD also provides more details about the Council's approach to viability assessments: when they will be required and the type of supporting information that may be sought with planning applications.
The Maldon District Affordable Housing and Viability SPD was adopted by the Council on 8 November 2018. This means that the SPD is a material consideration when the Council makes decisions on planning applications.
