Maldon District Statement of Community Involvement
The Maldon District Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how the Council will engage with the community and key stakeholders about planning policy documents and planning applications. It also provides guidance on the opportunity’s neighbourhood planning offers and the type and level of support guidance the Council will provide to communities involved in the neighbourhood planning process.
The Statement of Community Involvement was approved by the Council on 08 November 2018. This SCI replaces the Council's 2007 Statement of Community Involvement and the 2011 Addendum.

Publicising of Planning Applications
Due to the Covid-19 health emergency, MDC’s Planning Service will limit the publicising of planning applications, and therefore, the consultation of the general public, to that required under Regulation 15 of the Development Management Procedure Rules 2015. This will mean that the burden on the limited resource is reduced but will also allow MDC flexibility to deliver the best option and service available in the future in this fast-changing environment.
It is important to note that this will not alter the consultation process for other parties including statutory consultees or parish/town councils.
The consultation practice, undertaken as part of the determination of planning applications, as laid out within the Maldon District Council Statement of Community Involvement November 2018 will be amended to require the Local Planning Authority to publicise the application in accordance with Regulation 15 of the Development Management Procedure Rules 2015. The amendment is available by going to SCI Addendum - Publicising of Planning Applications.
Please note the above change is just for the duration of the health emergency.
