What you need to know before you apply

Once you have started the form, you will be given a unique login reference number.

You would then be required to complete the full application by clicking, Register for social housing on your online profile.

You can save the form at any point and complete it later - even if you are not on your own computer.

You will have 15 minutes per section to complete, the system will time you out.

You will need to complete the form within 28 days. If not, you will have to start again.

You will need the following information:

  • Names, dates of birth and current addresses of everyone who would be included on the application
  • Telephone number and an email address (If applicable)
  • National insurance numbers for all applicant's over the age of 16
  • Full address history for the last six years. There must not be any gaps and dates must not overlap.
  • Your employment and income details

Housing Conditions (e.g. damp, mould, repair issues, room sizes etc.)

If you would like to seek support in relation to the condition of your property, you must contact your landlord in the first instance. If this does not improve matters after a reasonable period of time, you can report the issues to your local council's environmental health team They may be able to assist in negotiations with your landlord or assess room sizes in accordance with regulations. If your situation remains unresolved you may wish to submit reports issued by your landlord/letting agent or environmental health officer to Gateway to Homechoice for consideration. Priority on the housing register will not be assessed without following this guidance.

Neighbourhood issues

If you requesting to move due to neighbour issues, you will need to contact your landlord in the first instance.

In order to report a noise/neighbour complaint, you will need to contact your landlord/letting agent or housing provider to keep a diary or log sheet of events with times, dates and brief details of the disturbance. You must do this for a reasonable period of time e.g. 4 to 6 weeks minimum. You may then submit this to your landlord and your local council's environmental health team for further support to address the issues. If following this, the issues are deemed unresolvable, you may request a copy of the reports issued by your landlord/letting agent and/or environmental health officer and provide to Gateway to Homechoice for consideration regarding your banding. priority on the housing register will not be assessed without following this guidance.

Domestic Abuse

If you and or your children are in immediate danger because of domestic abuse you should call 999.

If you cannot live in your home because of domestic abuse and it is not safe for you to go and live with relatives and or friends you can contact one of the agencies below to get some advice, support and assistance including information about refuge spaces.

If it is dangerous for you to remain where you are, and you have been unable to find alternative safe accommodation then you should the housing options team on 01621 854477 for advice and assistance.

We will then work with you to ensure you can either return to your home safely or to move onto alternative accommodation in a safe area.
