Chief Officers of the Council
Senior officers that a local authority is required by law to appoint, as defined in the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, s 296, are the Head of Paid Service and Section 151 Officer.
Under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, Section 5 and where relevant Section 5A, it is the duty of every relevant authority to designate one of their officers (to be known as “the monitoring officer”) as the officer responsible for performing the duties imposed by this section
These designated Chief Officers are shown below, the post titles in brackets identify the relevant posts within the council’s senior management structure

- Director of Legal and Governance (Monitoring Officer) - Emma Holmes
- Director of Finance (Section 151) - Ben Jay
