Petitions

How will the Council Deal with a Petition Received?

Petitions will normally be referred to the relevant Director or senior officer for consideration and a response, depending on the nature of the requested action.

Petitions requesting a senior officer to give evidence on a subject to the Overview and Scrutiny Committee will need to be supported by at least 500 signatures.

For a petition to be the subject of debate at a meeting of the full Council, it will need to be supported by at least 2,000 signatures.
