What is a Climate Action Friend and how can I become one?
To support our Climate Action Strategy, we are calling for ‘Climate Action Friends’ in the local community. These can be people from across the Maldon District who have an active interest in climate action, have an active role in their community, have access to use of skills/buildings or resources or who simply want to kept informed. By building up a list of Climate Action Friends, we will be in a better place to set up activities and engagement events to help tackle the climate issues faced in the Maldon District.
Our Climate Action Friends will work with young and old, businesses and local community groups, and will seek to give our younger Climate Action Friends a voice. Our events will look to gather ideas about the types of projects and initiatives communities wish to run but also to share with each other the great behaviours and activities that already take place (composting, clothes swap, cooking with local produce, introduction to an electric vehicle/energy saving solutions).
Our Climate Action Strategy has identified a broad number of activities where the Council, residents, businesses, and delivery organisations can be encouraged to invest, change behaviours, and adopt greener ways of living. Much of this is dependent on investment, enabling important changes, helping people to make positive, healthier choices and decisions.
We encourage everyone to get onboard and support this work and to sign up to become a Climate Action Friend, to register your interest, please email CAF@maldon.gov.uk.
