The Building Safety Levy is a government charge on certain new residential developments in England. It will come into effect on 1 October 2026.
The levy is intended to contribute towards the cost of addressing building safety defects across England. Maldon District Council is responsible for collecting the levy for chargeable developments located within the Maldon District.
The levy is separate from building control fees and any planning obligations, such as Community Infrastructure Levy or Section 106 contributions.
